I tried several solutions and by playing with the several of the buttons, the solution was sooo simple. When the camera is on & and in camera mode, press the Start/Stop button to shoot using the View Finder or LCD screen. The LCD screen not working in live camera mode. The screen will work when I set to movie mode and turn on camera otherwise
06-28-2023 09:42 PM. Ok, solved it. Inside the camera, there are pins above the winder that have contact with gold plates. One was bent, not allowing current to flow when the shutter is fired. Pics are attached. If anyone has any power issues with on and off, power winder or timer issues, this area is the place to check.
The only mode that buttons actually work in (Menu, play back etc.) is Full Auto. If I put it in any of the others the buttons become non responsive. The only thing that works in manual is the wheel by the shutter button but instead of it doing the Shutter, it controls the aperture, oh that and the light button.
If your lens is clean, the camera may not be focused when taking the picture. First of all, go into the camera settings and make sure it is set to AUTO. The M50's manual does not list any hardware reset button in the nomenclature (pp. 52), but on p. 298 "Restoring Default Camera Settings" it states that you can reset it via: Access the menu's SET UP 5 screen ( MENU >> 5 th menu of the wrench-tab (yellow)) Press Clear settings. Press Clear all camera settings >> Press OK.
None of any other buttons (inc. info, i, delete, zoom in/out) worked. It didn't matter what lens was attached. I can shoot (shutter release worked) but cannot view/delete the photo newly taken. The live view button worked (see pic) but I could not use zoom in/out when manually focus. What I can guess is the WB button was stuck but not sure.
